Hi, my name is Mark Lowe, and I started Pilot Socks because I was tired of wearing boring navy blue or black socks.

Back in 2014 while I was flying for a charter company, I thought it'd be fun to wear socks that added just a little color and personality to my uniform. I found a few companies online who sold bright, colorful socks -  so I started wearing them. They weren't obnoxious or outrageous -  after all I was still in uniform- but they were different enough to get noticed.

 

Occasionally, a line guy or other pilot would comment, and it would start a conversation. That's when  I got the ideal: what if I designed aviation-themed socks myself?

So, during layovers I started working on concepts. Some good, some... not so good(think: toe jam).

But  after about 6 months, I had a dozen designs I felt proud of.

 

I sent a few to  friends to get their thoughts - and to my surprise, they weren't just into them- they wanted to buy them.

​

That's when I realized this could actually be something.

​

Fast forward: I got my first three prototypes made, held them in my hands, and knew this was real. 

Today, I've shipped socks across North America, South America, Europe, and Australia.

I never expected to end up in the sock business- but here we are.
